Substrate Preparation
- Surface must be:
- Clean, dry, and sound
- Free from oil, grease, dust, old sealant
- Remove loose materials before application
Primer / Treatment
- Generally primerless adhesion
- For high-performance applications:
Non-porous substrates:
- Aluminium, steel, PVC, tiles → Aktivator-205
- Brass / zinc → Aktivator-205 + Primer-3 N
Porous substrates:
- Use Primer-3 N
Application Method
- Apply masking tape (optional)
- Insert backing rod
- Prime if required
- Apply sealant using gun
- Ensure full contact with joint sides
- Avoid air entrapment
- Tool immediately for smooth finish
- Remove tape within skin time
Cleaning
- Tools: Sika® Remover-208
- Skin: Sika® Cleaning Wipes-100
Limitations / Restrictions
Do NOT use:
- On concrete, plaster, masonry (alkaline surfaces)
- On porous materials (stone, marble, granite)
- For structural glazing
- Under water pressure or immersion
- In swimming pools
- In confined spaces without airflow
- On materials releasing oils/plasticizers
- Where abrasion or heavy mechanical stress occurs
- For medical or food applications
