Sikament NN KH | High-Range Water-Reducing Concrete Admixture
Sikament® NN KH is a highly effective dual-action liquid admixture. It functions as a superplasticizer for producing flowable concrete and as a substantial water-reducing agent for promoting high early and ultimate concrete strength.
Usage
Sikament® NN KH is used as a superplasticizer in the production of flowable concrete for:
• Slabs and foundations
• Walls, columns and piers
• Slender components with densely packed reinforcementIt is also used as a water-reducing agent for producing high early-strength concrete, including:
• Precast and prestressed concrete elements
• Bridges and cantilever structuresAdvantages
As a superplasticizer:
• Greatly improves workability
• Improves placeability in slender components with densely packed reinforcement
• Reduces the amount of vibration required
• Provides normal setting without retardation
• Significantly reduces the risk of segregationAs a water reducer:
• Allows substantial cement reduction compared with plain concrete
• Increases the water impermeability of concretePackaging

Concreting Guidance
Standard good-concreting practices concerning production and placement must be followed.
Laboratory trials must be conducted before concreting on-site, particularly when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components.
Fresh concrete must be properly cured, and curing must begin as early as possible.
Concrete Mix Design
When using Sikament® NN KH, a suitable concrete mix design must be calculated.
The local material sources used in the mix design must always be trialled and approved for suitability before the project begins.
Compatibility
Sikament® NN KH may be combined with many other Sika products, including:
• Sikament® products
• Sika® Aer
• Sika® Pump
• Sikacrete® PP1These products must be added separately to the concrete mix and must not be premixed before addition.
Sikament® NN KH is compatible with all Portland cement, including sulfate-resistant cement.
Dispensing
Sikament® NN KH may be added to the gauging water before the water is added to the dry concrete mix. It may also be added separately to the wetted concrete mix.
After addition to the wetted concrete mix, continue mixing for at least 1 minute per m³.
When added directly to freshly mixed concrete, the plasticizing effect is more pronounced.
For job-site addition, add Sikament® NN KH to the concrete immediately before discharge and mix for a further 3 minutes.
Recommended Dosage
Recommended dosage: 0.60–2.00 litres per 100 kg of cement
